He is active in multiple fields including performance art, painting, architecture, film, exhibition planning, music, new media and etc. His art works used to be exhibited in New York, London, Miami, Florence, Paris, Berlin, Toronto, San Francisco, Switzerland and other places in the world. He was elected as Chinas New Era Creative Leader in 2007, along with other famous artists like Ai Weiwei, Zhang Yimou and etc. In 2008, he organized Thousands of People in Red Sing National Anthem, a series of large-scale performance art activities. He was elected as one of the Top 100 People Affecting the Future of Beijing by overseas media in the same year. In 2009, he was awarded Lifetime Prize Winner of Florence International Arts Biennale and became the first Asian winner of this international award. In 2010, his creation China Kung Fu, large-scale installation of sculptures matrix enters World Expo Shanghai and has become the most popular exhibit on the spot.
